Beautiful handcrafted pictures by Crystolite

Sometime around 2003, I was in my living room, lying down on the couch and starring at the ceiling for no reason. I remember on that very day when I came back from work and noticed that there was no light because I hadn’t paid my light bill for the month. I remember hoping that they wouldn’t cut the light until Friday when I would get my check. It was so quiet and boring because of no electricity.

As I was starring at the ceiling, my eyes slowly came down towards the wall in front of me. I started to admire the flower painting on my wall like never before. The color became more vivid and I started to see some things I didn’t see before on the painting. I started to remember when I was very young and how I used to love to draw and paint, and also how I used to create my own comic books. I thought to myself that it would be great to create something unique and beautiful out of anything in my apartment at that very moment. Immediately I jumped up from the couch and headed to my room.

I saw a shiny cord or thread at the extreme corner of my reading desk and I picked it up and the same time thinking of when I bought such a shiny cord and why I bought it. Because of how shiny and beautiful the thread was, I then decided to create something with it. I picked up a thin 12inch/12 inch plywood board that was somewhere in my closet and then started drawing a rose flower on it. I then thought of lacing the drawing with the thread and to my amazement, after using the thread or cord, I then saw that it was beautiful. This is how I started creating what I named “Sunchild Thread Pictures”.

Thread pictures are handcrafted images or pictures made out of fine unique cords by carefully attaching them onto a board with craft glue. These unique pictures are nice for decorating your homes or offices. They are so unique, you have never seen something like it somewhere before. Each day and year that pass I always learn something new about thread arts and it really has been wonderful. Creating these wonderful pictures became fun as well as therapeutic for me. Because this art requires a lot of patience and concentration, it became a meditation exercise for me.
